The Trifecta- Will It Go Round In Circles Edition

Greetings, race fans! Time once again for another light week of Trifecta racing. This week it's an all NASCAR week, with the Truck and Cup races at Michigan while the Nationwide drivers dust off their high school French and have another go at road course racing in Montreal.

First off, here is the Dwindy report for this week:

dwindy 8 0 21 8 10
Hanny 3 0 15 11 5
cr 3 0 12 12 4

kristen 1 1 9 9 4
Tez 1 0 10 7 2
moseby 1 0 7 9 4
jon 1 0 4 6 8

There is still plenty of racing left on the Trifecta schedule for someone to catch Dwindy.

This week's starting lineup: Hanny Dwindy jon tez CR moseby SB kristen

And now to the races:

1.) The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race from Michigan, Saturday August 20; green flag drops at 12:47pm ET (entry list).

  4. good point, SB....but given the last time here I picked Vader and he sucked badly, a chewed up Carl voodoo might be a better option :/

  5. Hey SB!

Kristen took two of my picks... So, like a gentleman... I'll switch up.

CWTS - Johnny Sauter (would've been Kyle... Oh well, Gene would have taken him anyway...)

NWS - Cousin Carl Edwards... Voodoo and all!

Cup - Brad "Home Town Boy Does Good!" Keselowski (would have been Mr. Personality Matt Kenseth...)

It's tough bein' a nice, gentlemanly guy... But someone's gotta do it! LOL!

  11. Oh Dwindy that gives me GREAT hope that you were picking the same drivers...but you'll still win not to worry! =)

    ReplyDelete
  12. Tez again: you've missed a trick here, Gene....all you have to do is say "whatever Dwindy picks" and you'll beat him every week since you're ranked higher ;)

    ReplyDelete
  13. Tez... As a good friend of mine, a Hispanic man who only spoke broken English, once said...

    "Me no likey!"

    ReplyDelete
  14. CR here...

Tez, you should move Stateside, and milk the system here. You've got a sharp mind, and wouldn't have to work another day... well, at least until we're officialy bankrupt! LOL

  15. I am merely pointing out a, potentially, fatal flaw with the ranking system, nothing more, Dwindy :P

We're all decent enough people that no one would do that....no satisfaction in 'winning' like that anyways in my opinion.

CR; having to know a few ways around rules and regs is pretty common for us Engineers, lol

  16. Tez... I did want Kes in the Cup series, but passed him by since Dwindy had already picked him.

There are a few loopholes in the ranking system, but it seems more fair than the old 'first come first served' system.

Hey Comish, if I change a pick before the start of the race, to a driver that someone lower in the selection order already has, and we end up tied for the win, who gets the win?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Hanny-

Since you start first this week, you could literally pick the same drivers as any other player. If the combination of those drivers brings in the lowest overall score, you win by virtue of the tie-breaker(higher starting position). It's why I got the win the week before last, even though we ended up in a tie.

The new system is more fair. Ties have always been broken by the starting order. If you look at last year, the same names were always popping up first therefore putting them at the top of the grid. Plus, I never posted first because I didn't think it was fair for me to pick first since I was the one posting the blog. This way, everyone has an equal shot at the top- provided you pick the right combination of drivers that will give you the win. Those at the bottom of the grid can post their drivers ahead of those at the top, but they do so knowing that someone higher on the grid could steal one or all of their drivers. Sort of adds to the strategy of when to post your picks.

  18. Tez-

Your "trick" only works if Dwindy's drivers post the lowest total score.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Speedy... yes, I understand all that. But, what is the answer to my question. Can the previous week's winner change picks willy nilly, and still retain his tie-breaker advantage?

For instance, right now, if I switched to your Cup pick, Hamlin, would I still win a tiebreaker against you?

If so, this could lead to shenanigans before the Trifecta's final race of the day.

    ReplyDelete
  20. ...and actually Tez has a point. If ahead of Dwindy one week, if you picked his drivers, and kept doing that till the end of the season, you'd always be one-up on him in tie-breakers. Whether or not it's for a win, or for last place.

    ReplyDelete
  21. ... and then, Dwindy would start picking bad drivers, and changing them right before the races started...lol

    ReplyDelete
  22. Come on rain! Montreal need's a downpour right now.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I'm GFTW (Going For The Win) with a driver change: Kenseth in, Edwards out.

    ReplyDelete
  27. HELP! I'm extremely confused! Since I picked Happy "can I race Kyle" Harvick in the trucks, and Ron Fellows in the road race, I should have a total of 12 points, instead of 36? Speedy, do you have your contacts or your glasses? lol

    ReplyDelete
  28. Since Jon has decided to steal the driver Kristen and I picked, I'm forced to unload my secret weapon.... the Rocket Man, Ryan Newman! Take that Jon! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  29. btw... that last post means, I changed my Cup driver to Newman... Thank you.

    ReplyDelete
  30. CR- I misread your original post and thought you picked Kyle. Correction has been made. So has your driver change.

I only have hard contacts. I can't wear glasses because of the shape of my corneas.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Corrected standings after two:

    jon 2
    CR 12
    Dwindy 20
    Hanny 26
    tez 26
    SB 28
    kristen 52

    ReplyDelete
  32. Thank you SB. In the future, I'll try not to mention a second driver in a pick for a race. ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  33. hmmmmm... That sounds like trash talk Dwindy... Looks like you're about 8 seconds behind me, in 3rd place. Wild Turkeys must be faster than walking eagles! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  34. You're right CR... Walking Eagles are slow but Turkeys better stay clear! LOL

And here we are with another line dance, fuel strategy race at Michigan...

    ReplyDelete
  35. Actually looks like it could be a fantastic finish coming up....

    ReplyDelete
  36. And the final standings- I bet jon is glad he dumped Carl

  40. CR it's sacriledge! WTG Kyle!

Congrats to Jon! Close to our second perfect score!

The points standings should be very interesting with Brad moving up yet again...

    ReplyDelete
  41. Whadaya mean Dwindy? I was close to a perfect score, too. 2 winners in 3 races this weekend. Where's the love? lol

WTG Jon! Smooth move of the race award for pulling Carl.

    ReplyDelete
  42. But Gene... You did it backwards! LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  43. congrats Jon!
