Tom Walkinshaw: 1946 - 2010

Tom Walkinshaw passed away over the weekend after battling with cancer. If you're wondering who Mr Walkinshaw is, here's a brief montage of his involvement in motorsport (founder of Tom Walkinshaw Racing) around the globe for the last couple of decades.

Cutting his teeth in sportscars, he put Jaguar back on the map at LeMans.

The 7 time F1 champ won his first title in 1994.

Buying the underachieving Arrows team, he nearly pulled off a miracle win with Hill in 1997.

Yep, he was also a big reason why HRT are still top tier in the V8 Supercars.

He was 64 and leaves behind his wife, Martine, and two children, Ryan and Sean.

R.I.P. Wayne (not just another Dale Earnhardt fan)

Born January 13, 1952, to the late Bill Powell and Dorothy Blalock Powell Watson, Wayne was the oldest of two children. He was followed by a brother, Tommy Watson. He joined an extended family, George and Glinda Blalock and their two daughters, Beverly and Cindy. Married to the late Janice Yates, but later divorced, Wayne remained single until his death on December 4, 2010. Wayne was an avid fisherman, loved racing, loved his friends and watching his big screen TV! He never turned away a stray dog and owned several dobermans during his lifetime. His trade was an auto body repairman. He graduated from Athens Tech but learned more from his Uncle George who was about the best around when it came to fixing a wrecked car! Wayne worked for Boswell Motors, Brack Rowe Chevrolet and Barrett Dodge among others, and after his Uncle George retired, he helped his uncle with odd jobs occassionally. Wayne will be remembered for his love of music, the Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, southern rock, even partying with the Allman Brothers in Macon, GA back in the day. He met Ronnie McDowell and attended a lot of his concerts. Wayne left this world with an humble heart, healed from pain of a disfunctional family, and headed to a place called Heaven where he would meet Jesus, his parents, grandparents, his Uncle George and Dale Earnhardt! We will miss you, Wayne!

I'll miss my big brother and I miss you guys, too. Maybe the internet will return soon and I can comment on your posts. Right now I can read it but can't comment on my cell phone. But there is life out there and I'll carry on! Love you, guys!
