The Trifecta- Jon Hasn't Had Time To Enjoy His Win Edition

Greetings, race fans. Yep, it's Tuesday, but it's time for another Trifecta. This week is the second (and thankfully last) five race super weekend. The NASCAR gang is off to Bristol; F1 is off to Belgium; and the IndyCar drivers are extremely late showing up for the Lug Nuts get together in Sonoma (did someone forget to send them a memo?).

With 12 races to go (including this weekend), the overall standings look like this:

PLAYER WINS PERFECT 1ST 2ND 3RD
dwindy 8 0 21 8 10
Hanny 3 0 17 11 5
cr 3 0 13 12 4
SB 2 0 10 12 9
jon 2 0 6 6 8
kristen 1 1 9 9 4
Tez 1 0 11 7 2
moseby 1 0 7 9 4

This week's starting line up:

jon CR Dwindy Hanny tez kristen SB moseby

And now to the races:

1.) The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race from Bristol, Wednesday August 24; green flag drops at 8:16pm ET(entry list)

2.) The NASCAR Nationwide Series race from Bristol, Friday August 26; green flag drops at 7:43pm ET

3.) The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race from Bristol, Saturday August 27; green flag drops at 7:43pm ET

4.) The F1 Belgian Grand Prix, Sunday August 28; green flag drops at 8:00am ET

  5. I could get used to having racing on Wednesday night, lol

Trucks - Kyle "still got my license" Busch

will probably pick Indycar and F1 but those can wait a couple more days until at least we get some practice times :)

    ReplyDelete
  6. Hmmm, I said I would just pick whatever Dwindy picked but to be honest CR's picks are more to my liking! I'll stand on my own with these more or less...

    Trucks - Kyle!
    F1 - Lewis!
    IRL - Dario! Dario!

  7. jon-

According to FoxSports, Parker Kliegerman will be subbing for Brad in the Nationwide race.

  8. tez-

Kyle lost his license for 45 days.

  9. jon (via Facebook) is changing to Bowyer in the NNS race

  11. Kristen, guess what I found in the rocking chair in our family room today? Mail from over a week ago... and in it, a free reserved seat pass to the Grand Prix of Sonoma! lol ....now, question is, do I want to run away for the weekend? hmmmm....

    ReplyDelete
  12. ...thinking about the snail's pace exit after the race, makes me think I may want to just stay home and take a nap! lol

    ReplyDelete
  13. Heck CR, just go to the race and take your nap while the parking area clears out after the race!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Cup - Kyle
    F1 - Vettel
    IRL - Dixon

    ReplyDelete
  15. Tez here: he only lost his drivers license, not his racing license, SB.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Go CR! I'd go Sat to see them practice and skip the race...its all single file no passing anyway...but cool to see those cars on that track. They fly!

I didnt buy tickets so no passes for me =(

    ReplyDelete
  17. I believe I might need to take the penalty for changing races after this one...

    ReplyDelete
  18. Trouble in River City! The Harvick / Kyle Busch fued takes off again!

Dillon runs out of fuel? :(

SB... Give me the penalty and I'll take Will Power in the Indycar race...

    ReplyDelete
  19. For those who had a stake in the truck race- jon picks up where he left off last week, dwindy will be taking advantage of the dump a race penalty, and I expect to be hearing from Hanny, Kristen, and Tez.

    jon 1
    Hanny 30
    tez 30
    kristen 30

    ReplyDelete
  20. Gimme the penalty and give me:

    NW - Cousin Carl...

That way I can still use Cup race if need be! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  21. Tez here...I concur with K's staement about using the Cup race if I go 2 for 2 with dud picks, lol

    NW - Kasey Kahne

    ReplyDelete
  22. Hey Tez... Now I'm really tempted to drive down to Sonoma. They have a Historic Formula 1 race on Sunday, before the IndyCar race. "up to 20 Formula 1 cars from the past. Still, I must be getting old, because the drive has me fretting; 5 1/2 hrs down, and about 8 hrs back home with all the post race traffic!

    ReplyDelete
  23. NW... KYLE!

    Cup... KYLE!

    CWTS... Dropping KYLE!

    Indy... Dario

    ReplyDelete
  24. Tez again: CR, remember that I drove 5 hours each way to see a freaking Canadian Tire Series race...surely Indycar and historic F1 ranks slightly higher on the 'awesomeness' scale?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Ok, after the Nationwide race, the standings look like this

    jon 1
    CR 3
    Dwindy 6
    Hanny 6
    kristen 10
    tez 24

moseby and the Beagle will run their first race tomorrow night.

    ReplyDelete
  26. you know, in my current form, I pity whoever I pick, LOL

I shall likely dump KK and the NW race, SB *sigh*

    ReplyDelete
  27. Tez it's that post championship slump!

You partied too much after last season's Lug Nuts win! Gotta put that Fosters down! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  28. I guess Jon wants more time to enjoy his win? 3rd pick in the NNS race was a wiser pick than the first two.

Tez, I'm picking the opposite of your picks next week! If you pick the 14 car in a race, I'm picking the 41 car. If you pick the the 33, I'm picking the ....what the? LOL

    ReplyDelete
  29. righto, who can I pick in NASCAR that won't impact you guys....
    Cup - Matt Kenseth
F1 - still going with Vettel
    Indycar - Scott Dixon

    ReplyDelete
  30. TEZ! Why Vettel??? Hmmmm.... Should I switch? Don't think it much matters with Jon going for the gusto again...

    Guess I'll hang in...

    ReplyDelete
  31. Due to a dismal qualifying, I'm dropping Alonso in F1, and I'll take Lewis Hamilton instead.

    Thank you!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Well I'm getting a late start, but I'm off to sunny Sonoma! ...."this is crazy, this is crazy" ...ala Clark Griswold in "Vacation" lol

    ReplyDelete
  33. Ok, the standings with ALL players having completed one race:

    jon 1
    CR 3
    Dwindy 6
    Hanny 6
    kristen 10
    SB 14
    moseby 14
    tez 16

Ok, with jon and hanny having completed TWO races:

    CR 3
    jon 4
    Dwindy 6
    kristen 10
    SB 14
    moseby 14
    tez 16
    Hanny 20

and the final list showing jon's race card complete(maybe)

    CR 3
    Dwindy 6
    kristen 10
    SB 14
    moseby 14
    tez 16
Hanny 20 (has finished TWO races)
jon 21 (has finished THREE races)

So, the question becomes will jon and/or hanny drop the dismal performances of the Busch brothers?

    ReplyDelete
  34. I'm dropping Kurt Busch's sucky performance and going with (drumroll please):

ORIOL SERVIA for the IndyCar race.

    ReplyDelete
  35. The Beagle is dropping Will Power in the IndyCar race and going with Ryan Briscoe.

    ReplyDelete
  36. So with everyone having completed TWO races:

    Dwindy 7
    jon 9
    SB 15
    moseby 15
    tez 17
    Hanny 20
    CR 25
    kristen 32

    ReplyDelete
  37. CR really should have stuck with Fred instead of switching to Hamster :o

    ReplyDelete
  38. Well, this has been an interesting week to say the least. CR dumps Alonso's dismal qualifying performance in favor of Hamilton's dismal race performance. Jon dumped Kurt's 17th place finish in the Cup race for Servia's 17th place finish in the Indy race(and picked up a 5 point penalty for his troubles). And our winner is

    Dwindy 8
    moseby 17
    SB 18
    tez 19
    jon 26
    Hanny 28
    CR 38
    kristen 40

    ReplyDelete
  39. Oy! Congrats Dwindy yet again!! Seems like several of us beat ourselves this week with wheeling and dealing....

    ReplyDelete
  40. I'm back home. That was worth the trip. Thanks for twisting my arm into going! I'll post some pics on FB tomorrow.

BTW... How did I end up with 38 points when I had a 3rd in NNS, and a 2nd in IndyCar? I don't think there are 33 cars in F1, and I didn't change races, I changed to Hamilton before the race.

    ReplyDelete
  41. By my calculation, I should have 27 points. Which is enough to put me in front of Hanny on next week's grid! I'm filing a protest! lol

    ReplyDelete
  42. Oh, and congratulations to Dwindy! I can almost hear Dandy Don, singing "Turn Out the Lights, the Party's over"

    ReplyDelete
  43. How's that saying go? Even an old blind squirrel can find an acorn every once in a while! LOL!

You guys all know more about NASCAR and F1 and IndyCar than I do... It's just a question of luck at work here.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Tez here: I can't believe that I wound up 4th having taken 2 penalties, LOL

congrats to Dwindy again...you're doing what Vettel is doing in F1 this year :P

  46. Ok, evidently IndyCar.com had the wires crossed on their results page yesterday. So here are the final scores with the correct results for the Indy race figured in:

    SB 18 (Briscoe- finished 3rd)
    jon 20 (Servia- finished 11th)

    tez 22 (Dixon-finished 5th)
Hanny 24 (picked Dario- finished 4th)
CR 27 (picked Helio- finished 2nd)
kristen 36 (picked Dario- finished 4th)

    ReplyDelete
  47. Congrats to Dwindy again!!
