The Trifecta- Back To Pocozzzzzzzzzzzzz...

...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Huh? What? Oh, sorry, I fell asleep. Even typing the word is boring. That's right Trifecta fans- NASCAR is headed back to one of the most boring tracks on the schedule for the Cup and Truck races. The Nationwide guys are headed to the cornfields of Iowa, and just to spice things up a bit, the F1 drivers are headed to Hungary.

In the chase for the coveted Triple Lug Nut Trophy, CR and Tez are tied at the top with 3 wins each; jon, athens, moseby, and klv each have 2 wins; the rest of us (SB, Hanny, and Dwindy) each have 1 win.

On to the races:

1.) The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race from Pocono, Saturday July 31; green flag drops at 1:21pm ET (entry list)

2.) The NASCAR Nationwide Series race from Iowa, Saturday July 31; green flag drops at 7:44pm ET (entry list)

3.) The F1 Hungarian Grand Prix, Sunday August 1; green flag drops at 8:00am ET (entry list)

4.) The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race from Pocono, Sunday August 1; green flag drops at 1:18pm ET (entry list)

Let's go racing!!!

  1. All righty then...

    Trucks- Kasey Kahne

    NNWS- Harvick

    F1- Webber

Heard some trash talk about Tez & I being "open wheel guys". LOL, Now that I think about it, I'll take that as a compliment!

  2. Hey, Everybody! If you really wanted to get into self-torture, the 2009 Pocono race is on ESPN along with moderators Kyle Petty, Wally Dallenbach and the best of the best - BILL WEBBER!!! yuckyuckyuck!!!

  3. TRUCK - Dillon

    NW - Kyle B.

    CUP - Denny Hamlin

  4. I think they're jealous, CR....I mean, the best excitement last week was with the team orders in F1 and the finish in Edmonton, nothing newsworthy from the tintops at all :P

    ReplyDelete
  5. Trucks - Denny Hamlin
    NW - Trevor Bayne
    F1 - Lewis Hamilton

    ReplyDelete
  6. Tez... well, the heartbreaking defeat of JPM was rather newsworthy... I mean, how did Chip decide who should get 2, and who should get 4 tires?

    ReplyDelete
  7. debatable given Biffle was able to move up to third before, it looked like, the tyres equalised....but I think Juan was stuck anyway since if he'd taken 2, the rest would have probably gone with 4, lol

  8. Trucks--Ron Hornaday

    Cup--Happy Harvick

    F1--Sea Bass Vettel

  9. CWTS.......KAHNE!

    NNS.......KYLE!

    F-1......Alonso

Would have picked my usual Massa, but my Ferrari dealer ordered me to take Fernando. Wonder why?

Good to see my buddy, Lil Kim Jung ill, got his picks in right before me. Hmmm, he took Jennifer Jo Cobb, S Wallace, and P Menard. He's just getting into racing, give him a break.

  10. Trucks - Crafton
    NW - Bad Brad

  11. Kristen... say hi to the stoney faced presidents for me.

Gene... LOL @ Lil Kim Jung Ill. You're in true form!

    ReplyDelete
  12. Oh Kris... I see from Gene's blog, your trip to SD is not South Dakota, but rather San Diego... which I have heard pronounced, San Diago, which also means; a whale's vagina...

    "You stay classy, San Diego."

  13. in fairness, Steve and Paul aren't that bad a choice of late....might be on to something there *thinking pose*

  15. @Tez... I know, that's why he got stuck with JJ Cobb. Wouldn't want him to win on his first time out..LOL

  16. Let's get this straight. MW isn't Michael Waltrip, it's Mafia Wars. SD isn't South Dakota, it's San Diego. And the annoying mystery guest is actually a friend of Han's - Lil Kim Jung ill, with a little 'i'. We're not called "Lugnuts" for nothing.lol

    ReplyDelete
  17. Not many people can say they watched Pocono from the heart of the whale's vagina...

    =)

    Lugnuts R Us!

  18. Nationwide - Happy

    Cup - Hamlin

    F1 - Hamilton

  19. Throw me in there with the open wheel crew.

Just because NASCAR orchestrates a debris caution or tells the officials on pit road to bust a contender for speeding, doesn't make it better racing. If you are having restarts with 5 laps or less every week - that is certainly entertainment, but not what I would call "racing".

  20. after seeing the practice times from the Hungaroring, I think a change of driver might be in my future....

    ReplyDelete
  21. tez... I'd stay away from the McLaren stable this race. Even before practice, they sounded slow!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Thanks again for running this SB!

    Trucks - Almirola

    NWS - Carl Edwards

    F1 - Button

    ReplyDelete
  23. And the Beagle will go with-

    NNS-Brad K

    F1= Vettel

    Cup- TONY!

BTW- Our mystery friend is Chinese, not Korean (ok, curiosity got the better of me. I ran it through babelfish. The text translated from Korean, Japanese, and Chinese; the name only translated from Chinese).

I'll be on a plane for NW - go Bad Brad!! =)

    ReplyDelete
  26. Speedy... Lil Kim is fluent in several languages, Chinese just being one...LOL

    ReplyDelete
  27. With everyone having completed 1 race:

    Hanny 2
    moseby 2
    Klv 3
    dwindy1 4
    SB 4
    Athens 7
    Tez 9
    jon 29

    ReplyDelete
  28. And preliminary standings after the NNS race (moseny, jon, and the Beagle's 2nd race is the F1 race)

    Hanny 3
    CR 4
    Klv 7
    Athens 8
    dwindy1 14
    Tez 14

    ReplyDelete
  29. Perhaps Harvick can get rid of Hornaday and replace him with ESad next season. DAMN YOU HORNADAY!!! I SHOULD HAVE GONE WITH CRAFTON!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Even if Vettel and Harvick win their respective races, I'll still be in DFL.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Had to rant because EVERY time I pick Hornaday, he costs me and when I DON'T pick him, he WINS. That's the last freaking time this season I'm picking him!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Well, Jon, I guess Horny will have a great rest of the season then! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  33. Looks like a tie to me... They're side by side! It's CR by a... No! It's Hanny by a... No! It's CR by a fan belt... No! It's Hanny by a Lug Nut! LOL!!!

How ya gonna figure this one out? Do they both take a driver in the Cup to break the tie? Just curious...

To the victor goes the spoils!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Dwindy... Last time this happened, Jon and I were tied. I got my 1st win on the tie breaker of making my picks earlier. But, I like your idea of Hanny and I picking a driver in today's IROC race. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  35. After two races-

    Hanny 3
    CR 4
    Klv 7
    SB 7
    Athens 8
    dwindy1 14
    Tez 14
    moseby 22
    jon 32

CR, Hanny, Dwindy and Tez are finished with their races, so we can all sit back and enjoy our 500 mile nap this afternoon since the Cup race will have no effect on the outcome.

Congrats CR on your 4th win of the season.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I suppose the precedent has been set for tie-breaking....so congrats to CR! (But, I'm picking Hamlin at Pocono.)
Was there actually a green flag pass in the F-1 race?
Webber by 20 seconds! Where was the late race debris caution? You call that racing? LOL

    ReplyDelete
  37. Gene, I'm picking Hamlin too! LOL

How 'bout a little tri-fecta wager on the side? I'll go with Smoke, Hamlin, and JPM.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Gene, I didn't see the race, but I understand that Vettle had a drive though penalty near the end of the race, which gave Webber the win, and Alonso 2nd.

    ReplyDelete
  39. CR... I'll go with Smoke, Hamlin, and Kyle! lol

About half way through the race... Webber leading on a restart... Vettle, in second, laid back about a half a mile before getting the green... to hold up any challengers.... Vettle eventually had to do pass-through.... moving Alonso into 2nd.... Vettle came out in 3rd, which is how it ended many laps later.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I got snakebit this weekend! Vettel's drive through penalty cost him the race.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Is anyone out there? Elliott Sadler must really be hurt!:(

    ReplyDelete
  42. well, there's Gene's poll question for the week; who's worse at bumping someone - Carl or Jimmie?

and what is DJ smoking? Says it was bumpdrafting then said not intentional....sorry, but ALL bumpdrafting is on purpose, sheesh!

    ReplyDelete
  43. and congrats to CR for keeping 'us openwheel guys' up front ;)

    ReplyDelete
  44. Happy to say Sadler is walkin' and talkin'...

Wallace just pulled a good gaff too. ESPN had their garage man just walk through the five bolt points that anchor the engine to the chassis, he no sooner gets done with his explanation and here comes Wallace asking him to tell the audience about the mounting points that attach the engine to the chassis.

    Say What???

    ReplyDelete
  45. Final Standings-

    CR 5
    Hanny 5
    SB 9
    Athens 13
    dwindy1 22
    moseby 27
