WHAT IS THIS WORLD COMING TO

<

GREETINGS FROM SW OKLAHOMA:

FOLKS THIS ONE IS NOT ABOUT NASCAR, OR MY FRIENDS OR ANYTHING ELSE I NORMALLY WRITE ABOUT. IT'S JUST THAT I AM MAD AND NEED TO YELL.

I READ A DAY OR SO AGO ABOUT THE EAGLES SIGNING MICHAEL VICK IN THE NFL, WELL I DAMN SURE KNOW WHY I QUIT WATCHING NFL. I TRUELY HOPE THAT THE FANS THERE RUN HIM OUT ON A RAIL BEFORE HE EVER GETS IN A BALL GAME. CAN YOU TELL TAHT I LOVE DOGS, WELL OTHER THEN SNAKES ALL ANIMALS.

THIS GUY SAYS "WELL, I SERVED MY TIME AND DESERVE A SECOND CHANCE" HORSE CRAP, WHAT HE DESERVES IS TO BE FORCED TO WORK IN AN ANIMAL SHELTER FOR THE REST OF HIS LIFE AND DO IT FOR MIN. WAGE. THIS MAN CONTRIBUTED TO THE DEATHS OF ANIMALS THAT WERE REALLY DEPENDING ON HIM AND THOSE LIKE HIM TO KEEP THEM ALIVE AND WELL. GOD, HE IS GOING TO BE SUCH A GREAT EXAMPLE FOR OUR KIDS. WHAT HE IS SAYING IS "IF YOU CAN THROW A BALL, YOU CAN GET AWAY WITH ANYTHING YOU WANT.

I JUST REALY DON'T UNDERSTAND, BASEBALL WON'T LET PETE ROSE IN THE HALL OF FAME FOR GAMBLING, BUT THE NFL WILL ALLOW A KILLER BACK IN THE GAME TO TRY AND RAISE TICKET SALES, LOR I HOPE THEY NEVER LET CHARLIE MANSON OUT OF PRISON.

WELL GUESS I HAVE SAID ENOUGH AND BETTER SHUT UP BEFORE I GET MYSELF IN TROUBLE.

THAT'S MY OPINION - WHAT'S YOURS

  1. Gun, I always appreciate your opinions, whether they be on Nascar or anything else.

Here, I have to completly disagree with you.

Do I condone what Vick did? NO. I love animals too, I have 2 dogs, 3 cats, and two kids LOL.

If being able to throw a ball meant anything here, he never would have served a day. In fact, the only reason we heard about it at all, was because he was/is and NFL player. Unfortunatly, this stuff happens all over the south and never gets reported.

The man served 2 plus years for his crime. Others in the NFL have killed people and served less.
In a country started by people looking for a second chance, what does it say about us if we don't allow Vick a chance to redeem himself.

Will I cheer for him? NO. But I will not deny him a chance to correct his horrible life decisions, and neither should anyone else.

  2. STORK,

NOT A PROBLEM, GUESS IN SOME CASES I AM NOT VERY FORGIVING AND YES I KNOW IT GOES ON, SME HERE IN OKLAHOMA.

BUT BET YOU A DOLLAR TO A DOUGHNUT THAT HE IS BACK INTO SOMETHING ELSE AS BAD OR WORSE BEFORE THE WATER GETS HOT.

BUT LET'S HOPE NOT AND ALSO HOPE THAT THE EAGLES DON'T HIRE "SQEAKY FROME" AS THEIR HEAD CHEERLEADER SINCE SHE IS OUT OF PRISON, ALL SHE TRIED TO DO WAS KILL A PRESIDENT.

  3. I guess the basic question is "How much punishment is enough punishment?"

Obviously some people feel Vick hasn't been punished enough, and they're entitled to that opinion ... thing is our justice system decides what punishment and how much. The fact is that Michael Vick has received his sentence and served it.

I will echo what stork wrote. People deserve the chance to turn their life around and become a positive part of our society.

  4. BRAD,

I DON'T DISAGREE WITH YOU AT ALL ABOUT TURNING YOUR LIFE AROUND AND BEING A POSITIVE PART OF SOCIETY.

WHAT DISAGREE WITH IS THE NFL ALLOWING HIM BACK IN THE FIRST PLACE, AND I SITE THE SAME EXAMPLE AS BEFORE, WITH PETE ROSE, HE SURE WASN'T GIVEN A SECOND CHANCE AND IS STILL BEING PUNISHED TODAY.

  5. Agree with Stork and BC. He did his time. More time than Joe Blow off the street would have got for the same crime.

One thing white bread America doesn't understand is that the culture that Vick is from doesn't regard dogs as family members, as we do. Hell, there are other cultures that kill and eat dogs.

I'm not excusing Vick's despicable behavior and if he plays like he used to, he'll be out of a job soon enough. But the NFL has plenty of felons who committed more serious offenses than Vick. From manslaughter to wife beating.

  6. GENE,

I UNDERSTAND ALL YOUA RE SAYING, BUT MAYBE IT IS TIME FOR WHITE BREAD AMERICA TO TAKE A STAND, LET THE OWNERS ETC. UNDERATND THAT WE ARE TIRED AND WON'T PUT UP WITH IT ANYMORE.

IF I HAD EAGLE SEASON TICKETS RIGHT NOW THEY WOULD BE ON THE MARKET CHEAP THIS AFTERNOON.

ANYWAY GLAD YOU RELPIED AND PLEASE FEEL FREE TO DO SO ANYTIME, YOUR COMMENTS IS HOW I LEARN WHAT OTHERS FEEL.

  8. hey gunny,

forgot about ol Pete. If I had a vote I would put him in the Hall. They never proved he bet on the Reds, did they?? Anyway, his contribution to baseball, far outweighed any negatives, IMO. Plus look at baseball today. I say put Pete in.

  9. Be careful comparing Vick's NFL situation to Pete Rose's MLB situation. They're different.

MLB has a specific rule that states anyone caught betting on baseball is banned from MLB for life. Not ten years, not twenty years, banned for life. Pete Rose broke that rule and faces the punishment that comes with it. It's a very specific rule with a very specific punishment.

I will agree that Rose's accomplishments are worthy of the H.O.F., but the rule is clear and Rose knowingly broke that rule.

The NFL commissioner chose to allow Vick back in the league, and that's his call. It's worth mentioning that Vick really hasn't been all that great of a QB at the pro level, and I doubt he's going to really help the Eagles all that much.

  10. I am with you Gunny and see playing pro sports as a privilege and with it comes tremendous responsibility being a role model to youth.

Regardless of whether in Vick's culture they dont treat animals as pets, he did something illegal. Yes, he did his time and I have no issue with Vick, its more with the NFL for allowing him back in (didnt have to - Vick could go get a "real job"). NFL supports an awful lot of thuggery (as does the NBA).

But I guess everyone deserves a second chance too - he best make the best of it.

  11. PHOTOGR,

WHAT WORRIES ME IS THA TALL HE LEARNED WAS TO BE MORE CAREFUL NEXT TIME.

I KNOW I AM BEING WAY NEGATIVE ON THIS BUT THERE ARE TO MANY KIDS THAT ARE GONNA FOLLOW HIS EVERY MOVE, AND DEPENDING ON THEIR OTHER INFLUENCES THINK THAT IT IS COOL.
