Breaking News...

Many news sources are reporting Penzoil leaving Harvick to go to Penske to be Kurt's sponsor. Also rumored is that Kurt will drive the 22 and Brad Keslowski will move in the #2 Miller Lite Dodge. With Penzoil coming on board we are likely to lose Sam's Mobil One sponsorship - and possibly Sam.

This free's up Bud or Mobil or both to go to RCR or to Harvick if he does leave.

Silly season begins earlier and earlier each year.

  1. I've heard the same thing that Shell/Penzoil to Penske is a done deal. Also.....

Budweiser talking with Michael Waltrip Racing!

  2. KRIS,

ARE WE SEEING A FIRST HERE, A SPONSOR SILLY SEASON.

FROM WHAT I HAVE READ THE PENESOIL THING IS DONE, REST IS STILL SORT OF UP IN THE AIR.

HAVE TO ADMIT IT WOULDN'T BOTHER ME IF SAM DIDN'T HAVE A SPONSOR, BUT SOMETIME I AM JUST AN ASS LIKE THAT.

  4. Yep this is a done deal - I think Miller essentially dumped Kurt for an up and comer they could build their brand on and who would be more open/easier to work with...

I think Kurt keeps Addington but not sure about my crew - they may stay with the 2 car will have to find out. My creds contact will likely go to Brad now...oy!

Sam is out of a sponsor and maybe out of a ride unless he wins this year -- he could ride around in the Verizon sponsorship that BK had though. Allgaier is waiting in the wings too.

Big scoop! Now where does this leave Harvick. I could see him as the Bud driver! But if Bud is talking to MWR - maybe Harvick is going there?

  5. Another week, another big story about future rides. I love it. My first impression is this will work out well for both Busch and Keselowski. As for the rest of the dominoes, I have absolutely no clue at this point. There is more up in the air at this point in the season than i can ever remember.

  6. Pennzoil going to Penske doesn't surprise me. Remember Rick Mears driving the yellow Pennzoil machine to victory in the Indianapolis 500?

Here's some good news for you-

  7. LOL Thanks SB! I saw he shaved his beard on the twitter alert about it. THANK GOD!!

So hearing Miller thinks Brad already has bigger fan base than Kurt and wants to grow their brand with him as driver - and be associated with him a-la Gordon = Dupont. That is just like they had with Rusty.

I am sure Kurt got a pretty sweet deal from Penzoil given they jumped from Harvick to get him...and might even support Kurt's new interests in drag racing.

Sounds like chaos at Penske right now - I hope my crew stays together with either Kurt or Brad...

  8. Chaos at RCR, too.

Cat and Pennzoil are leaving at the end of this year... with no replacements yet.

  9. Hey Kristen-

Don't know if this is good news or bad news, but I think someone over at NASCAR.com is stealing your stuff. Check out the Power Rankings. You'll know it when you see it :o).

  10. LOL SB - good catch! Too bad I didnt copyright that eh?

You are right Gene, RCR is in trouble with sponsors and with Harvick possibly leaving...the rise and fall of the titans.

  11. where's Jon when we need him? He might have some more info if he's a member of a RCR forum maybe?

  12. Hey everyone! I've been ruminating on this all day. Heard about it this morning. I may post something on it later today, or include it in my Gas and Go.

  13. KLV - I think it is an interesting change. I think if I were Kurt, I'd be worried about losing the prime ride at Penske, which is the Blue Deuce. I think I'd be worried that if I didn't start pulling my weight, this may just be a shove out the door. When is his contract up?
